Partnerships.

Good for skin, good for the world.

We source raw materials through long-term, fair-trade partnerships with farmers and growers worldwide, prioritising organic and Demeter-quality ingredients wherever possible. As a foundation-owned company, profits are reinvested into these partnerships rather than paid out as dividends, supporting things like interest-free loans and enabling local farmers to pay fair wages.

Sourced close to home and from far away

A good deal of what goes into our formulations grows close to home - in our own biodynamic medicinal herb garden, or on the fields of our Demeter-certified farm, Sonnenhof. Other raw materials we buy regionally. But some plants simply won't grow in our climate. Macadamia is one example - we source ours in organic quality from Kenya.

What makes our partnerships work

- We help create the organic supply we need. Organic or Demeter-quality ingredients are always our first choice. When something isn't available at that quality on the world market, we don't compromise - we help set up a dedicated cultivation project to get there instead.

- We think in decades, not contract cycles. Short-term deals don't interest us. We'd rather build lasting relationships with our farming partners - our shea butter partnership, for instance, is now 20 years strong. Long-term, binding commitments give both sides real security to plan and grow.

- Fair conditions aren't optional, they're the baseline. We treat fair trade as a genuine minimum, not a bonus. That means helping support good local working conditions, and backing that up with practical support like interest-free loans where needed.

- We want our partners to need us less over time. Real success, to us, means our partners becoming financially independent - not more reliant on us. We help them market their goods to the wider world, not just to Dr. Hauschka, and we invest in their growth directly: providing agricultural advisors, and sharing our own expertise on sustainable production and quality management.
